Private Pilot certificate
The Private Pilot Certificate is the foundation of your aviation journey. Through one-on-one training, you’ll learn aircraft control, navigation, emergency procedures, cross-country flying, and the skills needed to operate safely and confidently.
This certificate you will give you the freedom to fly to airports, explore the community, or to travel across country. You can take your friends and family on rides.
WHAT CAN YOU DO AS A PRIVATE PILOT?

Requirements to get a Private Pilot certificate?
You must be at least 17 years old to earn a Private Pilot Certificate, although you may begin training earlier.
You must also:
Be able to read, speak, write, and understand English
Obtain the appropriate FAA medical certificate before flying solo
Pass the FAA knowledge exam
Complete at least 40 hours of required flight training
Meet the solo, cross-country, and nighttime requirements
Pass an oral examination and practical flight test
The FAA requires a minimum of 40 flight hours, but some students need additional time to reach the proficiency required for their checkride. Your total training time will depend on your progress, schedule, weather, and how consistently you fly.
